The town of Fort Erie, Ontario is located in the Niagara Region. The city of Fort Erie sits across the Niagara River from Buffalo, the state of New York. The town has a population of about 30,000, but in summer the population swells as tourists arrive to spend weekends at the town's beaches. Crystal Beach and Bay Beach on Lake Erie are among the nicest in the area, attracting visitors from both sides of the border of Canada and the U.S.

The town of Fort Erie has continued to grow, with much development within commercial and residential areas. Nearly all of the developments within Fort Erie's commercial industries have happened along Garrison Road, that include the Niagara Regional Road 3 which stretches east to west through the town. The town of Fort Erie has two public high schools: Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School and Fort Erie Secondary School. In the year 1970 some municipalities amalgamated with Fort Erie: Ridgeway, Bridgeburg, Stevensville and Crystal Beach.

The neighbourhoods of Fort Erie comprises: Crescent Park, Black Creek, Bridgeburg/NorthEnd/Victoria, Point Abino, Snyder, Amigari Downs, Bay Beach, Buffalo Heights, Edgewood Park, Douglastown, Garrison Village, Erie Beach, Oakhill Forest, Mulgrave, Ridgemount, Ridgewood, Thunder bay, Rose Hill Estates, Waverly Beach, Walden and Wavecrest.

The region around the town of Fort Erie is known as a summertime playground. Because of the winds whipping off Lake Erie, the wintertimes are fairly cold.
