Monte Vista Water District provides scholarship opportunities to students within its service area. These opportunities allow students to explore the importance of water and teach them about the value of water.
MVWD Bruce J. Lance, Jr. Water Scholarship
In recognition of his extraordinary service to the District for 44 years as the District’s General Counsel. The board chose to establish in Mr. Lance’s honor the "Bruce J. Lance, Jr. Water Scholarship" in 2013. Each year, up to two scholarships for $1,500 each are awarded to students in MVWD's service area.
Eligibility Requirements:
- High school seniors attending school or residing in the MVWD service area
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Planning to attend a two- or four-college for the 2025-2026 school year
How to Apply:
- Provide a personal statement (300 words or less) on how this scholarship will help you be successful in college/higher education
- Write a 1,000-1,500 word essay on the following topic: "How does water conservation help the environment?"
- Must submit a completed application, original essay, and brief personal statement by 11:59 p.m. on February 10, 2025
Essays will be judged based on the following equally weighted criteria: focus on topic, creativity & originality, grammar, and presentation. The submission of AI-generated essays is considered academic dishonesty and may result in disqualification.
