The Professional Vegetation Managers Association’s (PVMA) membership is made up of electric utilities, pipelines and petroleum producers, forestry companies, road authorities and municipal weed managers, contractors, and equipment and chemical suppliers, government agencies and others. An objective of the Association is to promote and support continuous improvement in the industry through development of improved methods, careful regulation and responsible execution of the vegetation management activities, and by supporting training and education of the people working at all levels in the industry.
In keeping with this objective, the PVMA will be awarding up to five scholarships of $2000.00 each year to Alberta students who are enrolled in a post-secondary program at an Alberta institution. In addition to the scholarship, the winners will receive a complimentary admission and paid accommodations to PVMA’s Annual Spring Seminar.

To qualify for consideration, the applicants must:
- Be a full-time resident of Alberta.
- Have completed a minimum of one full year of a vegetation-related program and have maintained a passing average mark. (copy of transcript is required). OR Have completed a minimum of one full year of any program, maintained a passing average mark (copy of transcript is required), AND have work experience in a vegetation management-related position.
- Prepare a 1 to 2-page written essay detailing the student’s outstanding interests and areas of specialty in the field of industrial or forestry vegetation management.
- Have never previously been awarded this Scholarship.
Preference will be given to those enrolled in a biology, agriculture, environmental studies, forestry or other program related to natural sciences and/or work experience in industrial vegetation management.

All documentation must be received by us no later than November 30, of each year.
The submissions will be reviewed and judged, and a winners chosen at the sole discretion of the PVMA. The
PVMA reserves the right to publish the winning essay and the name of the winning applicant publicly including on the Association website. Once a winner has been chosen submissions made by other applicants will be destroyed. The PVMA reserves the right to refuse any application without bias.
The scholarship winner will be notified within 60 days after application cut-off date. Requests for extension to the deadline for submission will NOT be considered
