Medicine Hat City always has something for every resident or visitor. There are several local events including Family Leisure festival, Spectrum Sunshine Festival, Medicine Hat Speedway and the Medicine Hat Motorplex, Police Point Park, Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede, Canada Day and the Sandfly Festival, Medicine Hat JazzFest are some of the few common tourist attractions. The Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede (or otherwise known as MHE&S) is a "Not for Profit" volunteer community service organization, founded to be able to provide the City of Medicine Hat and District with events, facilities and programs. The Esplanade was built in 2005 as amongst Centennial Legacy Projects of Alberta. It combines performing arts theatre, art and museum under one roof. Echo Dale Regional Park is the biggest of Medicine Hat's park systems. It comprises hiking trails and a scenic riverbank on the South Saskatchewan River Valley. There are likewise two man made lakes that could be used for boating and one more for swimming.

The city of Medicine Hat is located on the Canadian Pacific Rail main line as well as the trans-Canada Highway. These transportation networks enable the numerous businesses and industries better access to the other trading networks across the North America and allows for better access to the outgoing Pacific ports. Medicine Hat City does not impose a business tax, since their whole tax system is property-based. It even distributes and manages its own electric utilities and natural gas. The dividends from these utilities are subsequently shared with taxpayers, that consequently leads to lower utility and tax rates in the country.
