The city of Leduc is located 33 km south of the Alberta provincial capital Edmonton. Leduc sits within the Edmonton Capital Region metropolitan area.

The business of oil and gas continue to dominate the economy of the city. What's more, the Edmonton International Airport is a major employer within the city. The airport is located in Nisku, which is a main industrial park and lies adjacent to Leduc.

Though Leduc city is located in the Edmonton Capital Region, it has not grown as fast as other communities nearby Edmonton, although, it has steadily continued to grow during recent decades. The Leduc Representative is the local newspaper. There is even a regional newspaper called the Leduc-Wetaskiwin Pipestone Flyer. Leduc Radio is the community radio station that serves the city.

Because the proximity is so near within the Edmonton region, all major media from Edmonton like for instance radio, newspaper and television serve Leduc along with its surrounding area.
