Long Beach is a beautiful city situated within Los Angeles County on Southern California's pacific coast. It is located approximately 105 miles north of San Diego and 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. On its southeast edge lies Orange County. Signal Hill city is entirely encompassed in the city limits. The city has a projected population of 492,882, making it the 6th largest city in California and the 39th largest city within the United States.

Among the biggest shipping ports is located within Long Beach, making it a very influential within the global economy. It is the second busiest container port in the US and has been referred to as the Aquatic Capital of the Nation. There are big oil reservoirs located underground and offshore that has created a number of jobs within the industry and a considerable amount of income for the city. Amongst the some businesses that thrive within Long Beach are audiovisual and electronic equipment manufacturers, car and aircraft parts developers, and home furnishing makers.

There are several businesses that have their head office situated in Long Beach, like SCAN Health Plan, Epson America and Molina Healthcare. Recently, there has been a surge in the development of aerospace and high-technology businesses.

During the 1980's, Long Beach was among the epicenters of the crack cocaine epidemic. Even if most of the problem has been corrected, utilizing cocaine is still one of the highest within the county.

In Long Beach, the weather condition is wonderful and could be classed as Mediterranean. The Pacific Ocean makes certain the problems of heat and humidity does not overlap too often. Hence, the warmer temperature is much more tolerable than in various locations of the state. In summertime, fog and low clouds are extremely common early in the morning but it usually clears up by the afternoon. A cool sea breeze develops from the west and keeps the temperatures tolerable.
