Situated alongside the Santa Ana River, the stunning city of Riverside is the County seat for Riverside County and is the largest city in the San Bernardino - Riverside - Ontario area of Southern California. The city is the 4th largest city inland after Fresno, Sacramento, and Bakersfield. The city currently hosts a population of about 300,430 individuals in its area of 78 square miles. Its is conveniently situated 60 miles east of Los Angeles.

The first Navel Orange Trees in North America has its home in Riverside. During 1873, they were introduced into the area by the first settlers from Brazil. There are now three surviving Parent Navel Orange Trees left. All oranges grown in the west coast are descended from these trees.

The economy at first consisted of mainly agriculture. Throughout the past few decades, the financial system has shifted mainly on education, government, manufacture, and retail sectors. Luckily, the city has many inexpensive land space obtainable, that makes it desirable for businesses to build there. There is also various homes for a reasonable price.

The city of Riverside ranks number one (out of 53 cities) in numerous rankings, making it among the best cities to start a business. They rank well in the total amount of work in the city as well as the biggest amount of businesses.

The city is presently focusing on developing high tech business parks and is expanding their technology sectors. The whole County resides within the 856 acre Riverside Regional Tech Park, that offers high speed fiber optic telecommunications systems. Several businesses have decided to build their head office here, like Centrum Analytical labs, Bourns Engineering and I/O Software and Luminex Software Inc.

The manufacturing and industrial sectors are quickly growing and have attracted more than 125 industrial companies within the last ten years. DHL, a 18.6 billion dollar shipping business, chose to establish itself in Riverside. It is using the March Air Reserve Case as its west coast hub. Amongst the more successful companies in the light manufacturing sector are food processing, electrical instruments, fabrication, glass, metal, plastics, wood, recreational vehicles and imaging machinery. As the population grows, the retail industry expands too.
