Victorville city is situated within south-western San Bernardino County with a present population of approximately 112,097. It skirts the edge of the Mojave Desert in Victor Valley. Adelanto, Apple Valley, and Hesperia are all small communities that are situated nearby, and the bigger Los Angeles city is located about eighty two miles southwest of the city.

The city was at first named Victor upon its incorporation in 1962. In the year 1901, the U.S post office change the name as it was confusing the city of Victor, Colorado on various occasions.
