Calgary is the biggest city in the Province of Alberta, Canada. It is located within the south of the province, around eighty km east of the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies. Calgary is considered a metropolitan city which continues to retain its conventional culture of hockey, football, night clubs, bars, and hotel saloons. The city of Calgary has a lot of great parks for its visitors and residents to enjoy. The parks in the downtown area comprise: Central Memorial Park, Beaulieu Gardens, Eau Claire, Century gardens and Connaught Park. The parks located in the southwest comprise: 12 Mile Coulee, Baker Park, Bowness Park and Bowmont Park; Parks within southwest consist of: Battalion Park, Clearwater Park, Edworthy park and Douglas Fir Trail; Southeast parks consist of: Carburn Park, Beaverdam Flats, Elliston Park and Centenary Park; Parks within northeast include: laycock park, Big Marlborough Park and Bottomlands Park.
Gas and oil are the biggest contributors to Calgary's GDP, as the city is home to large oil companies, including BP, EnCana, Suncor Energy, Imperial Oil, Shell Canada, and TransCanada. Different big businesses situated within Calgary are Shaw Communications, NOVA Chemicals, Nexen, Telus, Shell Canada, Dow Chemical Canada and CNRL.
