The city of Stratford is situated within southwestern Ontario. It is also home to the largest classical repertory theatre in North America. The city of Stratford has a population of 32,000 and is situated on the Avon River within Perth County.

Stratford first served as a railway junction. Nowadays, Via Rail Canada provides passenger service. Goderich-Exeter Railway and the Canadian National Railways provide freight connections.
