In Peterborough city Ontario, the biggest operations include General Electric and Quaker Oats. Del Crary Park is a large urban space on Little Lake which is home to the international Festival of Lights fireworks displays, while providing a great outdoor space to be able to hold outdoor concerts and events throughout the summer months. The Riverview Park and Zoo is managed by the Peterborough Utilities Group. Admission is free, and everyone can access the miniature train rides, disc golf courses and animal exhibits. The Peterborough Skateboard park was constructed recently, and is considered to be among the biggest skateboard parks within Ontario. It has numerous various rails, ramps, and several half-pipes. For yearly events, there are Downtown Countdown, Artsweek, Festival of Trees, Simcoe Day, and Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade. Artsweek is an annual celebration of the arts held during the month of September. Downtown Countdown is an alcohol/drug-free New Year's celebration. Festival of Trees is a fundraiser supporting local healthcare. It has a show of decorated Christmas trees and various seasonally-themed displays in late November. Simcoe Day is the municipal holiday of Ontario held on the first Monday of August. Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade is held during the first Saturday of December at 5:00 pm.
