The city of Pembroke, Ontario is the largest urban center situated between the city of North Bay and the Ottawa, the national capital. It is situated within the Ottawa Valley where the Ottawa River meets the Muskrat River. The city serves as Renfrew County's seat. Pembroke City is easily reached through the Trans-Canada Highway.

Experience the Ottawa Valley settlers' way of life at the outdoor exhibits: blacksmith shop, woodworking shop, bake oven, smokehouse, sawmill, train station and carriage shed. A 1923 Bickle fire engine is on exhibit. Indoors, tourists will find historic displays of fancy parlor rooms, a doctor's examination room, general store, hair salon and much more. A replica of Samuel de Champlain's Astrolabe is another museum highlight.
The downtown sector of Pembroke is well-known for its various murals. There are around 30 mural which try to recreate Pembroke's history, from steam engines to logging.
