The Oakville Arts Council is the main promoter of Oakville City's arts and culture. The Council is a charitable non-for-profit umbrella group which represents different creative and artistic members from the Oakville arts community. It likewise publishes Arts About Town, the only magazine which is solely dedicated to arts matters and local artists. Oakville is home to numerous exhibits, art galleries and studios. The Gallery at Sheridan Institute is recognized as a creative centre within the city. Anyone is invited to walk from gallery to gallery within downtown Oakville or drive the streets to go to artisans' studios. There are also wood, pottery, sculpture, glass, prints and paintings accessible for visitors. The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts houses many performances by international and native artists. It is even the main venue for the Oakville Symphony Orchestra and the Oakville Ballet Company.
