The town of Grimsby is situated midway between Hamilton and St. Catharines, and has still been quickly expanding over the past 10 years. The natural boundaries of Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment do however place a restriction on urban development. The municipality's Greenbelt Plan has frozen Grimsby's urban boundaries permanently.
