Located in Denton County, the Texas city of Lewisville has a population just over 100,000 residents. Lewisville City has been one of the slowest city's within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to populate, though it is amongst the oldest incorporated cities in the northern area. It was incorporated during the year 1925 but remained a tiny town with just a few thousand folks until the early 1970's.

The city of Lewisville was initially settled by Basdeal Lewis during the 1840's. He bought out the acreage and named it after himself. The oldest structure remaining now was constructed during the year 1885 and is presently being used as the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre. In the year 1900, the population was approximately 500.

The economy of the area was historically in agriculture related businesses, comprising a feed mill, a grist mill and a cotton feed. West of the downtown area, growth gradually started to replace the farm land since homes were built so as to accommodate the new settlers. There was a significant increase in population from 1974 after the building of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

There are outdoor recreational opportunities nearby, with Lewisville Lake providing lots of opportunities for water sports and activities like for example fishing, camping and boating.

The lake was constructing for flood control and to be able to offer a reliable water source for the Dallas region. Lewisville Lake is well-known for its beautiful nature trails and breathtaking sunsets and as such is quite famous throughout summertime. One more famous lake in the area is Grapevine Lake, which consists of some nature trails suitable for biking, horseback riding and walking.

The Lewisville Fishing Barge provides a wonderful place for fishing enthusiasts, providing outdoor and indoor fishing. There are golf courses nearby: Bridlewood, Lake Park Golf Course, Cowboys Golf Club, and the Tribute. There are numerous public parks located throughout Lewisville.

Lewisville City had a high and stable rate of employment, with major employers which comprise Med Fusion Laboratories and JP Morgan Chase. The city of Lewisville has teamed up together with Texas Workforce Solutions, in order to help ensure that the businesses in the city maintain a constant workforce. They likewise offer assistance to residents within the community to find quality jobs. Diverse economy and continued employment growth give Lewisville City a big advantage over some other small towns.

Lewisville City has a governing party consisting of six chosen officials, one of whom is the Mayor. The Council members are elected for three year terms. The only situation where the Mayor vote is when there is a tie among the five Council members. Public meetings are held on the first and third Monday of every month to discuss and set local legislation.
