Temple is located within Central Texas nearby the city of Belton, the county seat of Bell County. The city of Austin is situated approximately 65 miles south of the city and the city of Waco lies around 34 miles The city of Temple, Texas is the county seat of Bell County within Central Texas new Belton. The city of Austin is roughly 65 miles south of the city of Temple, whilst the city of Waco is only 35 miles north. The population is projected to be roughly 60,118 and is a "principle city" in the Metropolitan Statistical Area of Killeen -Temple - Fort Hood.

Due to the city's environmental beauty, it has been called the "Wildflower Capital of Texas". In 1881, the township was established as a railroad township and referred to as "Temple Junction". The name was in honor of Bernard Moore Temple, a civil engineer and surveyor for the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway. The very first post office was constructed during the month of January the year 1881. At around the same time the city shortened its name to Temple and during the year 1882, Temple was incorporated. The Santa Fe Railway Company's hospital was built in Temple and the city still maintains its reputation as a regional medial center. The Scott and White Memorial Hospital, that is highly famous in the region, currently employs approximately 10,000 workers, easily making it the largest employer in Temple. There are much more medical doctors per capita within Temple then there is in any other community within the country. One of the major campuses for the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine is also situated in the city.

There are also a lot of regional distribution centers located within the city of Temple, along with the headquarters of Wilsonart International and McLane Company. These two big, multi-national companies also provide some jobs for the residents of the city of Temple. The daily newspaper is the Temple Daily Telegram.

In Temple, there are several highlights and attractions to enjoy, including the Czech Heritage Museum, Railroad and Heritage Museum, Temple Symphony Orchestra, Temple Lake Park, the Azalee Marshall Cultural Activities center and the Mother Neff Park.

There are various species of wildlife spread out over the diverse landscape which consists of beautiful green prairie land, a thriving woodlands, and the stunning Lake Belton.
