Aurora is a town in Ontario Province, Canada. Aurora Town is located approximately 20 km north of Toronto in York Region. It is considered part of the Greater Toronto Area and Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario.

The town caters to an affluent population that numbers nearly 50,000 people. The historical downtown area sits partially on the Oak Ridges Moraine. York Catholic District School Board and York Region District School Board have head offices in the city of Aurora. The inhabitants of Aurora benefit from various public and private educational facilities, such as daycare, nursery, elementary and secondary schools, plus separate French language Schools and Catholic Schools.

York Region District School Board is located on 60 Wellington Street West. The School Board operates the secular public school education system in York Region, that consists of several elementary schools and a couple of high schools in Aurora: Aurora High School and Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School.

The York Catholic District School Board is located at 320 Bloomington Road West and operates several elementary schools within Aurora and two high schools: Cardinal Carter Catholic High School and St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic High School.

A French-language Catholic elementary school, Ecole St. Jean, and a French-language high school, Ecole Secondaire Catholique Renaissance, are operated by Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud.
