Amherstburg City is situated within Essex County, within Ontario Province, Canada. Located near the mouth of the Detroit River, the town is approximately 25 kilometres south of Detroit City, Michigan State. Amherstburg is one of the very best birding sites within North America and is home to some fascinating museums.

The Holiday Beach Conservation Area is a haven for bird watching enthusiasts, as it is best known as an unparalleled viewing spot for the fall migration of raptors. The 'Festival of Hawks' event is held within the city each September. People who truly like to hike will enjoy traversing the two-kilometre trail along Big Creek Marsh. The 2.21 km2 nature reserve has over six hundred ten metres of beaches, as well as trails and picnic areas.

There are various tourist attractions for history buffs within the city of Amherstburg. These attractions comprise the North American Black Historical Museum, the Park House Museum, Bellevue House and Fort Malden. Landscape painters Catherine Reynold together with Robert her brother once resided in Bellevue House. Nowadays, there is an Ontario Historical Plaque to help commemorates the Bellevue House's part within the heritage of Ontario. Learn about the railroad history of Amherstburg by going to the railway museum located in a restored Essex Terminal railway caboose.
