Euclid is a small city bordering the bigger Cleveland in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The city of Euclid is part of the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area and has a population of 48,920 according to the 2010 census. Euclid was named after Euclid, the well-known Greek mathematician. The city is near Cuyahoga Valley National Park and lake Erie.

The total land area of Euclid is 30 km2, with a nice beach front area situated on the north edge. The city of Cleveland is located within the west, while South Euclid and Richmond Heights are located to the south. The communities of Willowick, Willoughby Hills and Wickliffe are situated east of Euclid.

The city experiences heavy winter climate due to its location within the Lake Erie Snowbelt. Whether experienced includes wind-whipped squalls blowing off the lake prior to freeze-up.

Euclid was founded by David Dille, a Revolutionary War lieutenant. In the city's early history, agriculture, particularly wheat and table grapes, was important to the local economy, as were saw mills, grist mills, saltworks and building ships. Bluestone quarrying created a significant amount of economic activity near the latter part of the 19th century. Euclid became a city officially in 1903. Euclid went through a boom in industrial production throughout World War II. Euclid celebrated its bicentennial in 2009.

The city of Euclid features lots of notable beaches along Lake Erie, including Euclid Beach Park. The Lake Erie Circle Tour, is a terrific way to tour some of the working waterfront areas, scenic locations and historic sights all-around the city. Golfing fans enjoy Briardale Greens Golf Course. The neighboring Cleveland provides top-notch entertainment.

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park has a lot of trails for biking and hiking amongst the wonderful waterfalls, rolling hills and narrow steep ravines. Another famous biking and hiking trail is the Ohio & Erie Canal Tow-Path Trail. The Cuyahoga River winds through the park where visitors could spot an abundance of wildlife. The park offers special event railroad tours provided by the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, along with outdoor concerts and exhibits.
