Sterling Heights is a city and a suburb of Detroit in Michigan State. With a population of 129,699, Sterling Heights is the second biggest suburb of Detroit, that lies about 40 km to the southwest. Sterling Heights is part of Macomb County and is bordered by the communities of Mt. Clemens, Warren and Troy. Branches of the Clinton River flow through Sterling Heights.

A lot of farmers began to settle in the area of what is presently Sterling Heights, following the Revolutionary War. These farmers were attracted to the land and its fertile soils.
