Sterling Heights is a city and a suburb of Detroit in Michigan State. With a population of 129,699, Sterling Heights is the second biggest suburb of Detroit, that lies about 40 km to the southwest. With the coming of the railroad, the Town of Sterling accommodated four passenger trains on a daily basis from Detroit. Sterling Township became Sterling Heights when it was incorporated officially as a city during the year 1968. The word "Heights" was added in order to distinguish the city from a village known as Sterling within Arenac County. The city of Sterling Heights is presently a thriving commercial and industrial area and a core suburb within the greater Detroit metropolitan area.

The Detroit Institute Of Arts has its home in Sterling Heights. This museums is considered among the best museums in the globe and holds more than 65,000 items. The city of Sterling Heights features numerous other cultural and historic places. The Museum Of Natural History has extensive prehistoric exhibits.
