Are you sick and tired of watching people and companies leaving Michigan for greener pastures?

We at the S.E.T. Educational Fund are doing something about it.  The S.E.T. Educational Fundwas founded in Michigan in 1998 in order to provide scholarships to Michigan residents attending Michigan colleges.  We select community-minded individuals that have excelled scholastically while volunteering their time to help others.

It is our hope that this grassroots endeavor will entice our residents to stay in Michigan and to help others.  The results so far have been a success!  To date, we have given out 16 scholarships to deserving Michiganders.  Our winners boast a 90+% graduation rate and some of our early winners have now joined the ranks of our donors.

Not only will our next scholarship financially help a Michigan resident, it will have far reaching effects since it helps the local community, the local colleges/universities, and the businesses looking for an educated work force.  This year we are giving out 2 scholarships of $8500 each!

In addition, our 501c3 charity (tax-deductible) is unique in one fashion: the donors within that given year vote for the scholarship winner(s). Your money isn't sent through some impersonal process with significant overhead and no say into how the funds are distributed. You have a chance to shape Michigan's direction.

So apply, get involved, or simply donate ... but help us rebuild our beloved Michigan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply?

Go to the Requirements page, read & fulfill all the requirements and send the application to the address above.

Should the recommendation letter be sent separately?

No. We actually prefer them to be sent together so letter and application may be matched easily.

If I am providing a transcript, do I need to send an official copy?

No. A regular Xerox copy of the transcript will be sufficient as long as the university name is visible.

What if I am a graduate student?

Unfortunately, the scholarship is only for undergraduates.

What if I do not have a valid driver's license?

We prefer the license, but will accept a passport along with proof of residence in its place.

What if my parents, or I, have not filed a 1040 for last year yet?

Please wait until the 1040 is available and submit them together.

What if my application arrives just after the deadline?

It will be eligible for next year's scholarship (as long as another year of undergraduate education is planned).
