The California Farm Bureau Scholarship Foundation was organized to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry. The scholarships are awarded annually based upon academic achievement, career goals, extracurricular activities, determination, leadership skills, and a commitment to study agriculture.
Who is eligible?
Any undergraduate student entering or attending a four-year accredited college or university in California and pursuing a career in the agricultural field. Applicants must be a resident of California. Yes, a collegiate membership is required.
Requirements
Applications are accepted each year between Dec 1 and Feb 1 and must be accompanied by the following items:
A) High school transcript(s) (if this is your first time applying).
B) Junior college transcript(s) (if applicable).
C) College transcript(s) (if applicable).
D) Two (2) letters of recommendation. Letters must be dated within the last three (3) months.
If any one of these items are missing, the application will not be considered.
Instructions
Letters of recommendation must contain the name of the applicant, comments on the applicant's character and abilities, and an opinion of his/her ability to profit from a college education. A parent or close relative cannot be considered as a reference. The name and occupation of each person writing a letter is required.
Interviews
In the spring, a group of finalists will be selected to be interviewed by the Foundation board. Finalists will be notified of the date, time and place of the interview in the notice of selection. Finalists should understand that they will have only a few weeks' advance notice of the interview date.
