About the Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship:
A) The intent of this award is to enable students to attend college without accumulating burdensome debt.
B) In most cases, the Phillips Scholarship award ranges from $3,000 to $15,000 yearly.
C) The award is renewable for up to four undergraduate years provided a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is maintained and financial need does not change substantially.
D) All grants will be paid directly to the institution.
E) High school seniors entering college and returning college students attending accredited U.S. colleges or universities are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
F) Awards may only be used for undergraduate study and are limited to those seeking a first bachelor's degree.
G) Awards will only be granted to applicants who are permanent residents of New England: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont; however, recipients may attend college anywhere in the United States.
Applicants must be:
A) An entering or returning student at an accredited undergraduate institution in the United States and must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours).
B) Pursuing a bachelor's degree (BA, BS, BFA, BSN for example) for the first time. Students in one-year or two-year certificate or associate's degree programs do not qualify. Students in five-plus year programs ending in a master's degree or beyond may apply for the first four (undergraduate) years of their programs.
C) A United States citizen or noncitizen who has a current lawful presence in the United States and a work permit.
D) A permanent resident of a New England state: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont.

C) Demonstrate skilled writing
