The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority offers scholarships for graduating high school students who are continuing in post secondary studies in a conservation field (biology, ecology, geography, forestry, fish and wildlife etc.). 1) A.W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship

This award is presented in memory of Archibald Campbell. Mr. Campbell was born in 1888 and lived in a house that has been preserved as the Campbell House Museum at the A.W. Campbell Conservation Area in the former Brooke Township. Mr. Campbell was a farmer and an ardent conservationist. Through his will, the Campbell farm was able to be purchased by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority so that future generations would be able to enjoy the forests and rolling landscape of his property. This scholarship was made possible through a donation to a trust fund by two private individuals.

Up to two candidates each year will receive $1,000.

2) Tony Stranak Conservation Scholarship

This award is presented in memory of Tony Stranak, former mayor of the Town of Dresden and past Conservation Authority Board member. The scholarship is funded through a trust fund established through donations from community organizations and municipalities in recognition of Mr. Stranak’s long years of community service.

One candidate each year will receive a $500 award.

3) Mary Jo Arnold Conservation Scholarship

Mary Jo Arnold was a summer employee of the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority who passed away as a result of a car accident on July 13, 2009. Mary Jo was a spirited young woman who had passion for life. In her memory, the Mary Jo Arnold Conservation Scholarship has been established through donations from family and friends. This scholarship will provide a lasting legacy which will help other young women in their pursuit of a post secondary education in conservation.

One female candidate each year will receive a $500 award. These scholarships are provided by trust funds established through the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation.
