The Missouri Broadcasters Association Foundation, a 501 (c) (3), is the charitable and educational arm of the MBA. It helps ensure a strong future for the broadcasting/digital media profession.

The Foundation is focused on enhancing the future of Missouri broadcasting/digital media by providing scholarships for students and member services that offer continuing education for professionals.

The Missouri Broadcasters Association Foundation is supported by the philanthropy of our member stations, community members and organizations. Your donation could make a big difference in a student’s ability to pursue a broadcasting/digital media degree and enter our industry.

Requirements

Eligibility Requirements

Each Applicant:

  1. Must be a Missouri resident.
  2. Must be currently attending a Missouri college, university or accredited tech/trade school or be a graduating high school senior who has been admitted to a Missouri institution of higher learning.
  3. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a broadcast/digital media or related curriculum, which provides training and expertise applicable to a broadcast/digital media operation.
  4. Must be a full-time student for every semester the scholarship is awarded. Full-time status requires enrollment in at least 12 credit hours.
  5. Must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent, which must be maintained for each semester of the scholarship.

Application Requirements

Please Include:

  1. A completed application.
  2. Two letters of recommendation.
  3. An essay no longer than three pages. Please see the application for subjects that must be addressed
  4. A transcript showing your current GPA. Transcript should include the most recent completed semester/quarter.
  5. Applicants must submit all materials by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection Process

The MBA selection committee will use the following information during its evaluation process:

  1. The applicant’s curriculum and career goals.
  2. Clarity of thought and expression.
  3. Letters of recommendation.
  4. Community involvement and extracurricular activities.
  5. Financial need. (While not a primary consideration, applicants should provide information as to how their education is funded.)

Financial Information

Multiple awards may be assigned each year and the amount of the scholarship will vary. This is a renewable scholarship, provided qualification standards are maintained. Recipients wishing to renew their scholarship must reapply each academic year through their area member station.

Important Dates

The annual deadline for application is January 15. Recipients will receive notification of their award no later than March 1.
