Abbotsford Community Foundation Scholarships

Scholarship Value: $1,000

Awards Available: 300

Award Deadline: Feb 28, 2025 (Deadline Estimated)

The Abbotsford Community Foundation (ACF) Student Awards Program aims to increase access to post-secondary education by granting scholarships, bursaries, and other awards to students graduating from participating public and private secondary schools in the City of Abbotsford.

ACF provides hundreds of awards each year that are funded by the income from student award endowment funds and support from annual student award donors. The Student Awards program is open for applications each year for the first three weeks of February. Recipients are chosen in April, and students receive notification at their respective convocation ceremonies in June.

STEP 1 ELIGIBILITY

Before beginning the application process it’s important to ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements. To be eligible, you must be graduating from Abbotsford Senior, ASIA, Abbotsford Traditional, Abbotsford Virtual, Bakerview Centre for Learning, MEI, Rick Hansen, Robert Bateman, W.J. Mouat or Yale Secondary. You must also be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident with a Canadian Social Insurance Number.

STEP 2 REVIEW AWARDS

Before starting the application process, it’s essential to review the list of available awards so you know which ones you’d like to apply for. You can find a complete description of the student awards by clicking the button below, or going to the Student Awards tab on the ACF website and selecting the 2025 Student Awards Directory sub-tab. While looking at the description of each award, confirm if the award is available for your school and if there is any special criteria.

STEP 3 AWARDS SUMMARY CHECKLIST

Next, you will need to complete the 2025 Award Summary Checklist. The checklists are specific to your school, so it is very important that you select the proper checklist. You can select up to ten awards you are interested in applying for.  After completing the form, please print it and include it with the package for your school counsellor.

STEP 4 STUDENT APPLICATION FORM

Please complete the Student Application Form. Fill in this form with information such as name, school, address, post-secondary education plans, parent information, community and volunteer activities, extracurricular activities, and any special criteria. Once you have completed this

form, a new screen will appear with an orange button to print your PDF application. Please print it, sign beside your name in the grey box, have your parent(s) sign it, and keep it with the Awards Summary Checklist specific to your school. If you’re having any issues with this form, please note that our website is optimized to work with Google Chrome.

STEP 5 REFERENCE LETTER

You are required to submit a reference letter with your application. This letter must be written by an adult who is not a relative. Some awards may require more than one reference letter. You will find these special criteria listed in the 2025 Student Awards Directory. If you would like, you can also complete a 2025 Reference Letter Info Sheet that will provide the person who is writing your reference letter with some additional information about you, your previous volunteer and work experience, and post-secondary education plans.

STEP 6 SPECIAL CRITERIA

Before you submit your application, please double-check to see if there is any special criteria for the awards you have checked off on the Awards Summary Checklist. Special criteria may include membership to an organization or an additional reference letter. If one or more of the awards you are applying to has special criteria, please ensure you include any relevant documentation with your application.  Also, please review the sections highlighted in yellow in the awards directory to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements of that award.

STEP 7 SUBMIT

Now that you have completed all of the forms, gather all of your documents in order to submit your
application. Please ensure you have printed a completed copy of each of the following documents:

  • Awards Summary Checklist
  • 2025 Student Awards Application Form signed by you and your parent(s)
  • Reference Letter
  • Any other documents required for awards with special criteria

Please submit your application package to your school counsellor by 2:30 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025.  Award recipients will be notified at convocation in June. If you have any questions about the application package, please contact your school counsellor directly.
