The late Pete Ketcham, one of West Fraser's three founding brothers and until his passing in July 1996, the Company's Chairman, championed West Fraser's support of post secondary educational institutions. He was especially supportive of and pleased with the opening of the University of the North as it allows students from Northern British Columbia to attend school closer to home. Pete felt this would lead to greater opportunities for students from communities in which West Fraser has operations.
