Andy was an entrepreneur in the insurance industry for over 30 years with State Farm Insurance and then Desjardins Insurance. He had an award-winning legacy agency, started by his father, and carried on by his daughter. Andy was born and raised in Fredericton and attended Fredericton High School and St. Thomas University and played both rugby and hockey.
He was a loving husband and father and knew how to have a great time with family and friends.
Andy was involved in sports his entire life - primarily with hockey, rugby, and golf. He coached hockey in Fredericton for more than 35 years. He made donations to sports teams both financially and with his time. He was actively involved in Fredericton Sports Investment, Hockey New Brunswick, the Y’s Men, and Business Fredericton North.
Andy was known for his community donations, coaching teams to championships, being a helping hand and could make anyone smile with easy conversation.
Andy believed in always chipping in to help people out and inspired others around him to help serve their community.
Andy stood for: integrity, honesty, and loyalty. He was only 58 years old when he died after a long battle with cancer. He lived loud and made a difference while he was here, and made a lasting impact on many people he coached, worked with, and his friends. Not long after his passing in 2021, a committee of these people started a Memorial Golf Tournament that now funds two high school scholarships in memory of Andy.
The purpose of the scholarship is to continue what Andy stood for and believed in, which is giving back to the community he loved so much.
