Bay Area SMACNA Scholarship

Our efforts to educate the younger generation on the variety of careers available in the sheet metal industry don’t stop at the Intern Program. The Bay Area SMACNA Scholarship Trust Fund has provided a minimum of 40+ tuition and book scholarships annually for students pursuing their bachelor’s degrees.

These scholarships (up to $6,000 each) are primarily awarded to students studying engineering and construction, but have also been awarded to those studying other disciplines. Scholarship recipients who attend intern training day and complete an internship with a Bay Area SMACNA contractor also receive an additional 50% scholarship. Trustees have also established one Hardship Scholarship up to $15,000 that may be awarded to a deserving applicant in the sheet metal/HVAC field who demonstrates a financial hardship.

All scholarship applications are due no later than May 31, 2026, with awards announced in July.

The scholarships may be paid directly to the university or college by the Scholarship Fund.

The scholarships shall not exceed the amount of the tuition AND books AND may be used only for tuition and book expense.

A scholarship recipient may be given preference to paid employment positions in the Bay Area SMACNA Summer Intern Program.

We envision a community that recognizes the importance of educational attainment and assures positive educational outcomes are accessible to all, regardless of economic circumstance or financial barriers.
