Attorney Terry Bryant will be awarding his firm’s annual college scholarship to one high school senior in the nation. This scholarship gives students an opportunity to help fund their college education. To apply for the Terry Bryant College Scholarship, a student must submit a short video in response to the following prompt:

  • If you had up to one minute with your younger self at the time you started high school, what advice would you give on how to stay safe on city streets – whether as a driver, passenger, cyclist, or pedestrian?

Each year, too many innocent people are killed or seriously injured on our nation’s roadways. In addition to fighting for injury victims through our legal system, there are other ways we can help make our streets safer. We hope that our scholarship leads to a plethora of compelling messages from our nation’s youth that will resonate with their peers. The winning applicant will receive a $2,500 scholarship for their efforts. For a student entering college, $2,500 can help a great deal with tuition, books, housing, and other expenses. The Terry Bryant College Scholarship aims to support and encourage our youth and the communities they were raised in.

Eligibility

The Terry Bryant College Scholarship is available to all current U.S. high school seniors, regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. Applicants must also have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and must be planning to enter an accredited four-year university to pursue a degree.

Instructions

All applicants must include these materials with their entry:

  • A fully completed application for entry.
  • A recent photo of the applicant attached to the application
  • A video, up to 60 seconds in length, that responds to the prompt above. The video must submitted via link. (e.g. Upload to a video hosting site such as YouTube or Vimeo)
  • A high school transcript (either unofficial or official) that includes the student’s class rank and size
  • Optional: 1 or more letters of recommendation that discuss the applicant’s achievements, academic potential, and involvement in their school and community. (For recommendation letters that must be sent directly to us, please tell your reference to use coo@terrybryant.com)

How to structure your presentation

Applicants are encouraged to create a video that will resonate with high school students at an age when most will learn how to drive for the first time, and when they become increasingly independent.

Award process

Terry Bryant will choose a single winner with a team of judges representing the firm. To make their decision, the judges will weigh the video along with academic achievements and community and school activities. Presentations should not contain profanity or other inappropriate material. The decision of the judging team is final, and the winning applicant will be notified by telephone. The winning applicant will receive a $2,500 scholarship in the form of a single installment. Checks will be made out to the student and the university they plan to attend.
