Although the online application will be available until March 31, 2024, it is strongly recommended that you begin the application process as early as possible, as you will need to submit documentation from third-parties (such as official transcript and letter of recommendation) which can take several weeks to obtain. Any supplemental materials not uploaded to application must be emailed to the Scholarship office before the application deadline or they will not be considered. There will be no extensions to this deadline under any circumstances.

The online portion of the application will take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  1. Detailed information (name, date, hours per week/weeks per year) for your academic honors, school activities, community activities, and paid work experience. 
  2. The name and contact information of the person you will be asking to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf
  3. Your (the student) 2022 income information
  4. Your (the student) spouse's 2022 income information (if applicable)
  5. Your parents' 2022 income information (if you are a dependent student)
  6. A list of the value of all your assets, including but not limited to:
    • Checking Accounts
    • Savings Accounts
    • Real Estate
    • Automobile
  7. A list of your current student debt (what you owe today), including:
    • Federal Student Loans
    • Private Student Loans
  8. Your 2024-2025 Student Aid Index (SAI) generated by your 2024-2025 FAFSA application
  9. A list of your expected resources for the 2024-2025 school year (how you expect to pay for school next year)
  10. Your school's Cost of Attendance Budget* for the 2024-2025 school year

The Cost of Attendance budget can be obtained from your school's Financial Aid office or website. If the 2024-2025 budget is not available, use the 2023-2024 budget. If you are not sure what school you will be attending, submit the information for your first-choice school.

REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must be planning to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school full-time in the 2024-2025 academic year. All applicants must remain in good academic standing and be making timely progress towards a degree or vocational certificate. JVS does not offer scholarships for weekend programs, summer sessions, part-time studies, or for any college or vocational school that has not received approval from the U.S. Department of Education for federal student aid funding.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must identify as Jewish
  2. Must be at least 16 years old
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or documented legal permanent U.S. resident with a Green Card
  4. Must be a permanent and legal resident of Los Angeles County for a minimum of 3 years as of September 2023
  5. Must be planning to attend school full-time at an accredited public or private college, university, or vocational school in the U.S.
  6. Must maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA (per quarter/semester)
