Alexander Christian Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, charitable, organization established in 1964 for the purpose of granting to students who are members of the independent Christian Church/Church of Christ in Indiana, for the advancement of their Christian education.

Stipulations for applying for an Alexander Christian Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

1. Resident of Indiana.

2. Attending member of an Independent Christian Church/Church of Christ in Indiana.

3. Someone who desires to serve (or currently serves) in a church-related vocation. Defined as a job in which the primary emphasis is in the areas of preaching or making disciples, such as: working in a local church (minister, youth minister, music minister), a missionary, or professor at a Christian college. (NOTE: ACF does not award scholarships for those majoring in, or preparing for, a vocation in counseling or worship tech.)

4. Attending, or plan to attend, an approved Independent Christian Church/Church of Christ college full-time (12hrs min.)

5. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, if currently attending college.

Procedure for applying for an Alexander Christian Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

1. Application and all information listed below must be completed by the candidate, or designated party, and submitted to ACF on or before March 1. It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to have all materials completed and turned in prior to the deadline. Applicants are welcome to contact the office to confirm receipt / check on status.

a. 500 to 1,000-word essay on the subject, Why I desire to serve Christ in a church-related vocation.”

b. Transcript of grades (if in college be sure to include recent fall semester).

c. Current photo of applicant.

d. Completed Minister’s Evaluation Form.*available online

e. Completed Elder/Youth Leader’s Evaluation Form. *available online

2. Applicant may be required to attend an interview session in Indianapolis prior to final selection.

3. Applicant will be advised of the decision of the Foundation concerning the application. It will be the intention of the Foundation to also notify the scholarship recipient’s home church and school of his/her award.

4. All scholarship awards given will be for one year only. Previous year’s scholarship winners who have attained at least a B (3.0) grade average may reapply the following year.

Evaluation of scholarship amounts

Recipients of scholarship aid from the Alexander Christian Foundation will be proposed by the Scholarship Selection

Committee. Scholarships will be awarded based on the number of applications received and money available.

Stipulations for terminating an Alexander Christian Foundation Scholarship

The stipulations for receiving an Alexander Christian Foundation scholarship are binding throughout the recipient’s education for his church-related vocation. Previous recipients may not be re-considered if any of the following conditions apply:

a. Recipient’s career goals change and he/she is no longer pursuing a church-related vocation.

b. Recipient does not maintain a B grade average.

c. Recipient transfers to a college other than an approved Independent Christian Church/Church of Christ college.

d. Recipient is no longer considered full-time.

2. The Directors of the Foundation also reserve the right to terminate a scholarship for what a majority believe to be academic

incompetence, immorality or unbecoming conduct on the part an Alexander Christian Foundation scholarship recipient. Actions such as being placed on probation by the college or being expelled from school will potentially disqualify a recipient from future awards, unless strong evidence can be produced that they have made dramatic change in their life.

3. Additionally, any college or university, as an institution, could become ineligible should they lose accreditation or participate in actions that the Directors of the Foundation deem unethical, harmful, or otherwise against the beliefs and values of the Foundation's mission. Should this situation arise, the Directors of the Foundation would work closely with any recipient to make reasonable decisions for their award and education opportunities.
