CISCO is accepting applications for its long-standing Annual Scholarship Awards Program. Applications form are available by clicking on one of the three types of scholarship awards below.
CISCO’s three (3) scholarship program categories are:
- Three (3) four-year scholarships ($2,000/year) for High School seniors to support college-bound children of construction building trade Union members and employees of Union contractors, or to children of non-bargaining unit employees of a Union contractor affiliated with CISCO. - Two (2) two-year awards ($1,000/year) for High School seniors planning on attending a community college or pursuing an Associates Degree. Must be a child of a construction building trade Union member and employee of Union contractors, or a child of a non-bargaining unit employee of a Union contractor affiliated with CISCO. - Two (2) two-year continuing education awards ($1,000/year) to support CISCO members who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a community college or a 4-year accredited college or university who are working in the Union building construction trades or are employees of a CISCO contractor.
OBJECTIVE
To provide financial support for CISCO members who are working in the trades or are employees of CISCO contractors who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a community college or a 4-year accredited college or university. Two (2) scholarships will be awarded each year.
ELIGIBILITY
Each candidate must be:
- A member in good standing of a building trades Union that is a CISCO member and/or employed by a contractor that is a CISCO member.
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a community college or a 4-year accredited college or university.
- A United States citizen.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The following information is required from each candidate:
- A copy or downloaded version of application form with all pages in one (1) .pdf document.
- One completed Personal Reference Form, filled out by a school faculty member, a Union representative, or an adult NOT related to the student.
- A copy of official or unofficial transcript of all current school records, or similar documentation reflecting academic grades/records.
AWARDS
- A maximum of two (2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded yearly. These scholarships are renewable, provided student maintains a 2.75 grade point average on a four-point scale. Each scholarship may only be renewed one (1) time, for a total scholarship term of two (2) years.
- CISCO will send scholarship funds directly to the bursar of the college or university where the winner will do his/her undergraduate work.
- For the purposes of allocation, funds of this scholarship are to be used for tuition and fees only.
- All scholarship awards will be formally announced at an official CISCO function in the spring.
JUDGING
- CISCO has the sole authority for granting scholarship awards. The scholarship recipients are selected on basis of academic performance, faculty recommendation, extracurricular activities, employment experience, and the demonstration of a productive career. CISCO reserves the right to delegate the choice of award winners to the Selection Committee.
- All applicants selected as finalists may be subject to a personal interview with representatives of the Selection Committee. Only winners will be notified.
- Grade transcripts must be forwarded directly to CISCO from the school’s registrar at the conclusion of each academic period.
- The scholarship monies must be used within a 3-year period from the year of receiving scholarship. For example, if student receives award in April of 2025, the monies must be used by April of 2028.
