Scholarship Eligibility
Candidate must:
- Be a resident of the state of Texas but can attend school outside of the state.
- Be enrolled in any degreed foodservice or hospitality program.
- Be a registered full-time student (12 hours or more) with at least 3 hours per semester devoted to foodservice or hospitality management.
- Have participated in your high school's ProStart culinary arts program.
- Have an overall minimum GPA of 2.75 and major GPA of 3.5 (2.75 for high school seniors)
- Demonstrate the ability to become an asset to the foodservice industry. The student’s personal aims and goals should be consistent with this requirement.
- Show proof of enrolled hours after last drop date each semester, before payment is issued.
Previous winners are not eligible for a second award. College seniors in their last semester are not eligible. Scholarship not paid out for summer semesters.
The scholarship committee will score the applications on the following:
- Spelling, Punctuation, Legibility
- Grade Point Average and ACT/SAT Scores
- Class Ranking (High School Seniors Only)
- Honors-Community Involvement
- Essay Questions
- Strength of References
- Industry Related Work Experience
- 1-5 years working in foodservice
Deadlines:
All applications, letter of reference and transcripts must be uploaded no later than April 30, 2024.
Applicants will be disqualified if applications, letters of reference or transcripts are uploaded after the deadline, if they fail to meet the application requirements or if the applicant fails to follow instructions.
- Official Transcript from Current High School or University
- College applicants must send transcripts covering a minimum of the previous two academic years (must include high school transcripts if a freshman)
- Signed Letters of Recommendation from:
- current or previous employer (only accepted on company letterhead, with signature over envelope seal)
- an official of the high school, culinary academy or university you are currently enrolled (only accepted on school letterhead, with signature over envelope seal)
