This scholarship program is designed to:
A) Encourage and assist women in obtaining post-secondary industrial trades education.
B) Support capacity-building by helping to increase the number of women professionals in the communities where we operate, aligned with our goal to have 40 per cent women in the workplace by 2030.
C) Increase the number of female role models in our communities, by showcasing successful women in trades through this program.
On an annual basis, TransAlta will offer scholarship awards of up to $3,000 for eligible students entering post-secondary trade programs on a full-time basis.
Applicants for TransAlta's Women in Trades scholarship must meet the following criteria:
A) You identify as a woman;
B) You are a Canadian, Australian or American citizen or permanent resident;
C) You are enrolled in a full-time, post-secondary trades program and must maintain satisfactory academic standing throughout your program;
D) You have a plan for achieving your education and career goals;
E) You commit to updating TransAlta on your progress throughout the duration of your studies; and
F) You complete and provide the information as requested by TransAlta.
A) Proof of enrollment in a full-time post-secondary trade program related to TransAlta's operations;
B) Transcripts of last academic year;
Please submit a maximum 500-word essay detailing:
A) Your academic and career goals;
B) Any information on community involvement and volunteerism,
C) Including any leadership roles;
D) How you plan to use your education to give back to the women
E) In the community;
F) How you plan to keep TransAlta informed of your progress in school; and
G) Why you should be the recipient of the bursary.
