Calgary Flames Foundation Community Involvement Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Calgary Flames Foundation to recognize well-rounded students who exemplify leadership and volunteerism in their community.

Eligibility
Open to students registered in grade 12 who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must exemplify leadership as demonstrated through volunteer activities within the school and/or community and have academic requirements sufficient for entrance into their chosen program of study.
Applicants are required to submit an original essay of approximately 500 words describing how they have demonstrated leadership in their volunteerism and why they have chosen the particular volunteer opportunities in which they participated.
Applicants are required to submit one letter of reference. The letter may be provided by a community leader representing a community-based organization or a school official, and should speak to the applicant's leadership, volunteerism and involvement in the community.
Selection will be based on leadership/volunteerism, essay and the reference.
Selection & Payment
Recipients are selected by September. The EducationMatters Selection committee may also include a representative from the Calgary Flames Foundation. To claim the award, within eighteen (18) months of notification the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study of at least two years duration, or an eligible skilled trades or apprenticeship program. Payments are made to the post-secondary institutions.
