The Law Office of Ben Carrasco is committed to guiding clients through the divorce process and helping them find the best possible outcome during a time of familial dynamic change and litigation. Attorney Ben Carrasco has seen, first hand, the challenges which often accompany divorce, especially for the children involved, as well as the sacrifices parents are willing to make for their families. Divorce is difficult but oftentimes necessary for all parties to live a happier and healthier life. That is why our firm is proud to offer the Product of Divorce Scholarship.
During a divorce, children are often confused by their new circumstances and oftentimes they don't understand the decision their parents made until years later. For this scholarship, applicants are asked to reflect on their family and the selflessness their parent(s) showed them while growing up. These could be sacrifices and actions you were aware of at the time or ones you learned later in life, and also how having divorced parents presented you with opportunities you might not have had otherwise.
The deadline to apply is December 1, 2021. Once all submissions have been received, the entries will be reviewed, and one student will be selected to receive a $1,000 award. The person with the most well-written, thoughtful response to the sacrifices their parent(s) made will be awarded this scholarship.
Eligibility
A) The scholarship is open to any current high school senior, college student, or graduate student who is currently enrolled or accepted into an institution for the 2022 semester.
B) Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing.
Application Requirements
A) The candidate must submit a 750-1,000 word essay response to the prompt: When parents go through a divorce, it can often leave a child confused by the change in family dynamic. Describe how having divorced parents affected you, the obstacles you overcame, and the opportunities you had with divorced parents.
B) The candidate must submit a professional resumé that lists their experience, both professional and academic.
C) The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, as well as the most recent official transcript from their prior school. D) The recipient of the 2021 Product of Divorce Scholarship will be chosen during the month following the scholarship deadline."
