One Step at a Time Scholarship

Attorney Daniel Benji has worked with many individuals who have experienced injuries and losses. It takes dedication and patience to overcome hardships and our firm is proud to support people through the recovery process.

This year we are excited to announce our One Step at a Time Scholarship. This scholarship was created to encourage those who have faced adversity to reflect on their experience and discuss the steps they took to pull themselves through a difficult situation. We are looking for students to explore their past adversities and delve into how they have grown through what they have gone through. Is there anything you wish you knew then? What did you learn from the experience? How has overcoming a hardship impacted you and has it changed your outlook on life?

The scholarship winner will be chosen based on the criteria outlined below and will be awarded $1,000 to go towards their higher education.

Eligibility

A) This scholarship is open to any current high school senior, college student, or graduate student who is a legal resident of the United States residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and who is enrolled in a two to five-year post-secondary institution for the Spring 2022 semester.

B) Employees of Benji Personal Injury, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, or spouse), and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to participate in the competition.

C) Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing.

Application Requirements

A) The candidate must submit a 750-1,000 word essay response to the prompt: Recovery cannot happen overnight. It takes time, dedication, and patience. Write about a time when you had to work to pull yourself through a difficult situation. Describe the steps you took to get to a better place. In hindsight, is there anything you wish you knew then to help you move forward? What did you learn from the experience?

B) The candidate must submit a professional resumé that lists their experience, both professional and academic.

C) The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, as well as the most recent official transcript from their prior school. High school students must also submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.

The recipient of the One Step at a Time scholarship will be chosen during the month following the scholarship deadline.
