eCYBERMISSION Awards

Scholarship Value: $6,000
Awards Available: 20

eCYBERMISSION is a web-based science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competition for students in grades six through nine. Students are challenged to explore how STEM works in their world while working as a team to solve problems in their community. Teams compete virtually in state and regional competitions and in-person through the National Judging & Educational Event (NJ&EE) in June 2021. Student prizes are awarded at the state, regional, and national levels by grade level.

Who Can Compete?

Team Structure

A) Three or four students in the same grade and state

B) One Team Advisor

Student

Students must be enrolled in either 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grade at a U.S.-based public or private school, a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school abroad or a U.S.-based home school. All students must be a U.S. Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident in order to participate in the competition.

Team Advisor

Team Advisors must be a teacher, coach, counselor, or leader in a youth organization and at least 21 years of age. Team Advisors must have access to an active email account. A parent may serve as a Team Advisor as long as the parent is known at the student's school/organization and has education or youth leadership experience while also meeting the other eligibility requirements of a Team Advisor.

Schedule and Deadlines

The online registration period is open from August 12, 2020 through January 6, 2021. A complete team, three to four students and a Team Advisor, must be registered and assigned to a team by January 6, 2021, at 11:59PM Eastern Time, in order to compete in the 2020-2021 competition. After the registration deadline, teams may no longer register to participate in the current eCYBERMISSION competition unless the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) deems it necessary to extend the end of the registration period.

Each grade level participating in eCYBERMISSION will receive the following awards:

State Awards:

First-Place State Winners - $1,000 U.S. Series EE Savings Bond at maturity per student.

Second-Place State Winners - $500 U.S. Series EE Savings Bond at maturity per student.

Honorable Mention Awards - Award certificate.

Non-U.S. based Department of Defense Education Activity school entries will be considered as one state (i.e., Armed Forces Europe and Armed Forces Pacific). U.S. Territories and Commonwealths will be considered as one state (i.e., American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico).
