To be awarded to students who participate in Section V sports, have been diligent in academic and athletic endeavors, and exhibit self-motivation and extraordinary effort.
Application Period
Contact school athletic director or sports coach for nomination information. A nomination code is required to access the application. Applications are accepted between December 1 – February 28.
Number and Size of Awards
One award of $4,000 each to both a male and a female athlete; paid as $1,000 per year for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study. Additionally, one non-renewable award of $1,000 to both a male and a female runner-up. Award paid in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.
Allowed Use of Award
Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.
Eligibility Criteria
For college-bound graduating seniors who have participated in athletics at Section V schools.
Each school in Section V may select one male and one female student to complete the application. Applicants need not be the best natural athletes or scholars, but should demonstrate “110 percent” effort in studies and chosen sports.
Financial need may be considered, but is not a determining factor.
Application Process
This scholarship accepts nominations from Section V schools only.
The application process is coordinated through the Community Foundation and Section V. Each eligible school nominates one male and one female.

Nominators: Please contact the Community Foundation at scholarships@racf.org in November to request an access code and application instructions to share with your nominee(s) on December 1.
Nominated students: An invitation to complete the application will be shared to you. The application is available between December 1 – February 28.
Committee/Selection Process
The selection process is coordinated through Section V. A committee comprised of Section V representatives and other community members reviews applications and selects recipient(s).
Award Announcement and Payment
The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring.
Payment is mailed to the college for the recipient’s account in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received.
To release the initial winner or one-time runner-up (when applicable) scholarship payment, upload your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15.
To release subsequent winner scholarship payments, upload the requested and required information, including your unofficial transcript, class schedule and tuition bill verifying continued enrollment and a minimum 2.5 GPA to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15.
Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.
Renewability
The winner scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four consecutive annual awards. Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information. Note: Runner-up scholarships are a one-time awards and are not renewable.
