Eligibility Requirements
To receive an initial year (IY) award through the TEOG Program, a student must:
A) Be registered with Selective Service, or be exempt
B) Have a 9-month EFC of no more than $5,609
C) Be classified by the institution as a Texas resident
D) Have not been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance
E) Not be concurrently receiving a renewal TEXAS Grant
F) Be enrolled at least half-time and awarded in the first 30 hours (or its equivalent) of an associate degree or certificate program (excluding credits for dual enrollment or by examination).
To receive a renewal year (RY) award through the TEOG Program, a student must:
A) Be enrolled at least half-time as a student who previously received a TEOG award and has not yet been granted an associate degree or baccalaureate degree;
B) Be classified by the institution as a Texas resident;
C) Have not been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance;
D) Not be concurrently receiving a renewal TEXAS Grant; and
E) Maintain satisfactory academic progress: 2.5 Cumulative GPA
Each recipient's maximum time frame must be monitored to ensure compliance. The maximum time frame for receiving the grant is the first of:
A) 4 years from the start of the semester in which the student received the first award through the program;
B) 75 Semester Credit Hours (SCH's) attempted while receiving the grant; or
C) Completion of an associate degree.
