In addition to these requirements, students applying for each scholarship must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay. The essay requirements depend on the major the student plans on studying or is currently studying in college.

A) Students who are applying for the $1,000 college scholarship that is open to any major must write an essay based on the poem "Howl," Part 1, by Allen Ginsberg. You can find the poem here. Include what the poem means to you, and why the poem is relevant for today's society.

B) Students majoring in business or a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering, or math) must write an essay based on this prompt: "How is technology going to change your way of life in 15 years?" Your response can include thoughts on subjects ranging from work to home and personal life.
