Partners at The Ward Law Group, Gregory Ward and Jany Martinez-Ward, recognize the importance of community inclusion. Cuban born Jany spent some time in Venezuela before she moved to the US to pursue her legal education. She and her husband Gregory work hard understanding the legal issues facing foreign-born clients, and work tirelessly to fight for others while maintaining grounded in the Latin culture of their Florida community.

There is much to be done before immigrants can enjoy the full benefits of a clear path to U.S. citizenship, and many individuals will strive in social, political, and legal arenas to achieve the necessary reforms for others.

The individuals who desire to make a measurable difference in immigration reform must be well educated and have a hands-on understanding of the issues and policies in the U.S. and around the world.

This scholarship will be awarded to the student who in an essay best considers the importance of immigration reform and current immigration conditions and reforms in the United States have affected them as well as offer ways that these conditions might be improved. This scholarship will award $500 to the winning student.

Scholarship Eligibility

This scholarship is offered to any student currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States. This includes incoming first-year college students who are high school graduates or possess a GED. The scholarship candidate must possess a demonstrated interest in immigration reform and a dedication to their education. Additionally, all candidates must be in good academic standing, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
