Suicide Prevention Scholarship
Accessible mental health care would have a positive impact on susceptible individuals who suffer from suicidal tendencies. Furthermore, the leading method of suicide involves using firearms. Legislation could make health care mandatory for people who need it, profoundly helping them, as well as limiting or regulating access to the firearms which cause the injuries.
Mr. Fisher has established a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a student who is interested in these issues. Applicants should discuss how legislation addressing U.S. health care and/or access to firearms could help these people.
To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant should be currently enrolled in an academic program, or may have a GED and planning to attend college; they must also have maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA in school.
In order to be considered, an application for this scholarship must include:
A) A school resume,
B) A recent transcript,
C) A 500-1,000 word essay where the applicant discusses the American health system and its relation to suicide, and the need to introduce effective legislation that may help prevent or lower the incidence of suicide in our communities.
