Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $25,000
Awards Available: 11

The application process for the Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarships has been designed to help the selection committee learn about your leadership experience, extracurricular involvement, and academic performance. Last year, we awarded 11 incoming freshman scholarships valued between $5,000 and $25,000. We invite all high-caliber high school seniors admitted to the Carlson School to apply!

Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund

The Scholarship Fund was founded by several alumni of the Alpha Eta chapter of the co-ed business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. Since 1988, the Scholarship Fund has awarded over $2,500,000 in scholarships to 350 recipients. For the 2021/22 academic year, we awarded over $250,000 to 11 incoming freshmen and 28 upperclassmen. The Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to incoming freshmen who have strong academic records and leadership experience and will attend the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Information on how to apply as a high school senior is listed below.

Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria

To be eligible to apply for an Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship, all applicants must meet the following requirements:

A) MUST be an incoming freshman admitted to the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota (students with waitlisted or deferred decision are not eligible)

B) have strong academic records

C) demonstrate leadership experience and/or involvement in extracurricular activities

Note: financial need will be taken into account for almost all of our scholarships. We request FAFSA information but judge a student's need by looking with a full picture viewpoint than just the numbers reflected in the FAFSA. If you have questions about how your financial need would be evaluated (as we look at it differently than the University and government do), questions may be directed to Laura Murphy, Executive Director at or 617-515-5012 (text or call). If you feel you do not have any financial need - you might! Please do apply as some awards are awarded based only on merit.

To apply we request that you provide the following materials:

A) Personal Information: Name, contact info, applicant photo, etc.

B) High School Information: High School and any additional academic transcripts for at least the past two academic years.

C) ACT Score (Optional): The score report from the testing authority (SAT may be used if ACT was not taken).

D) Family Financial Information: FAFSA, how you plan to pay for college, extenuating financial circumstances, etc.

E) Extracurricular Involvement: Activities, volunteering, work, leadership positions, etc.

F) Short Answers: Utilize up to 250 words each to reply to 2 short answer questions.

Note: You do not have to join the Alpha Kappa Psi Co-Ed Business Fraternity to qualify for these scholarships. Alpha Kappa Psi members will not be given preferential treatment for these scholarships.
