General Lloyd W. “Fig.” Newton Chapter of Tuskegee Airman Inc., is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for scholarship awards for the 2015/2016 academic year. We are soliciting candidates to compete for a scholarship that will be awarded this year.
Our Scholarship application consists of two pages printed “back to back”. The second page of that form includes the requirement that each applicant must submit two essays. The first, a one (1) page “Personal Essay”, should provide a personal sketch which includes background, an outline of educational plans, career goals, and why financial assistance is needed. The second, a one (1) page essay, should give an overview of the history of the Tuskegee Airmen and how their experience has impacted the applicant personally. Essays must be typewritten, double-spaced, on 8.5”x11” paper with all margins at least one (1) inch. The absence of either essay will merit ZERO (0) points for that category.
Completed applications must be post marked no later than 15 April, 2016 and winners will be announced during the Annual General Newton Fundraising Scholarship and STEM Camps Golf Classic.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be students of accredited high schools who have graduated or will graduate in the school year 2015-2016. Additionally, applying students must have a GPA of at least three points (3.0) on a four-point scale.
