Jack and Mary Rowe Memorial Scholarship Fund will reward excellence in academic performance to students from public high schools in Duluth, Hermantown, and Proctor who are pursuing a career in engineering.
Seniors graduating in the top 5% of their class (with a GPA of 3.7 or higher) from a public high school in Duluth, Hermantown or Proctor and who intend to study engineering are encouraged apply. Students should complete and submit in the DSACF Common Application by the deadline day. A complete application will include an academic transcript (including standardized test scores) and a essay titled "Why I Plan to Enter the Engineering Field."
The Jack & Mary Rowe Scholarship Selection Committee will select individual scholarship recipients. They will base their decision on the applicant's academic record, involvement in community and extra-curricular activities, work history and the quality of their essay on engineering.
The Jack and Mary Rowe Memorial Scholarship rewards excellence in academic performance to students from public high schools in Duluth, Hermantown and Proctor who are pursuing a career in engineering. This scholarship, created in memory of Jack and Mary Rowe, parents of Lizette Lawien, and grandparents of Christian and Corbin Lawien, is not based on financial need. Mr. Rowe enjoyed a rewarding and successful engineering career with Minnesota Power and this scholarship rewards those students who have the potential to do the same. This scholarship will be funded by the Jack F. and Mary E. Rowe Charitable Lead Trust.
Awards Given from Fund
One scholarship (of about $4000/year), co-payable to the student and institution will be awarded each year. Generally, this annual award is divided into two installments- half for fall, half for spring. It is not renewable but previous recipients may reapply.
