The On Your Own Scholarship was established in 2004 and seeks to provide scholarship opportunities to foster youth from Santa Clara County who plan on pursuing higher education.
A) Accepted to or attending San Jose State University for the upcoming fall 2015 academic term
B) Have been in foster care at least one day after 13th birthday
C) Achieved a minimum (overall) 2.5+ cumulative high school GPA on a 4.0 scale and received high school diploma or GED or current cumulative college GPA of 2.5+
D) Have 'unmet' financial need or have educational loans that do not exceed the cost of attendance as determined by the campus Financial Aid Office
E) Completed the FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) before March 2, 2015
F) Applied for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
G) Demonstrate a commitment and capacity to complete a degree or meet college transfer requirements
