Senior Airman, Mark A. Forester was killed September 29th, 2010 in Afghanistan while risking his life to save a fallen comrade.
Mark died serving his country, family and friends. He had courage and honor and gave selfless sacrifice. He embodied everything a hero is. This is why Rocky Mountain Mattress would like to give a scholarship to students in his honor.
How to Enter:
Any student who is currently enrolled in an accredited American university or college, or will be enrolled for the Fall/Summer semester of 2018, can apply for the Mark A. Forester scholarship. The applicant also must be current military or veteran, or child of military/veteran.
To enter, the student must write a 300-500-word essay explaining how they go about honoring America's military heroes. You can simply send the essay as a part of the body of your email, no attachments please, with your full name, school you will be attending, and contact information to scholarship@rockymountainmattress.com.
Background for the Essay:
In 2011, the Mark Forester Foundation began asking Americans to publicly share how they individually "Honor the Heroes" and Rocky Mountain Mattress has been so inspired by some of the responses to this question that we decided to create a scholarship essay contest around the topic. You can learn more about the "Honor the Heroes" concept at The Mark Forester Foundation website.
Deadlines:
The deadline to submit an essay is June 1, 2018 at midnight. Essays will then be reviewed and the winner will be announced on June 15th, 2018 on this website. The winner will be notified by email.
The $1000 award will only be usable for tuition and book costs and the check will be written to the winner's school of choice.
