The Chickasaw Nation is pleased to offer its students funding assistance for college. The following is a list of programs, grants and scholarships that you may be considered eligible to receive. Please read the description of each, and place a check in the box next to the funding source for which you wish to be considered. You are encouraged to select all areas in which you qualify. After completing the online application and providing us with the required documentation, your application will be reviewed for consideration of funding. 

All programs, grants and scholarships offered by the Chickasaw Nation are for Chickasaw citizens only. Full-time Chickasaw Nation employees will complete Form 04629E to apply for programs, grants and scholarships (this excludes CEA employees). School-to-Work Program employees will complete Form 04629S. No student will be considered for funding who does not have a Chickasaw Nation citizenship card or citizenship confirmation. 

Applications and documentation can no longer be submitted by fax, however you may apply online and upload your documents. All programs, grants and scholarships applications and documentation will be delivered via postmarked U.S. Mail, email or in person to the education services office by established deadlines - spring semester - Feb. 15 / summer semester - July 1 / fall semester - Sept. 15. For quarter system students the deadline will be one month from the start date of the term. By signing the application, you declare that you have read and understand the Chickasaw Nation Higher Education Student Handbook concerning the Chickasaw Nation Higher Education programs as they relate to funding students who are attending college. You may find the handbook at www.Chickasaw.net/highered.

Eligibility

  • Must be a Chickasaw citizen.

You Provide

  • Final high school transcript (if you are an incoming freshman)
  • Unofficial college transcript with previous semester grades and hours
  • Semester schedule with number of hours enrolled

Grants and Scholarships

Higher Education Grants

The higher education grant may be awarded to undergraduate, graduate or doctoral students who maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher each semester.

General Scholarship

A general scholarship is available to Chickasaw students who take three or more credit hours each term and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Awards are based on enrollment and classification, and an incentive is available based on GPA.

Governor’s, Lt. Governor’s and Legislator’s Scholarship

These scholarships are for graduating high school seniors (awarded one time only). Students who have a GPA of 3.85 or higher, or who have been selected as class valedictorian or salutatorian are eligible. High school transcript is due Sept. 15.

Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes Johnson-O’Malley Scholarship

Each year the Chickasaw Nation awards this scholarship to one male and one female graduating high school senior (awarded one time only).

The students must be attending a school with a Johnson-O’Malley (JOM) program, within the Chickasaw Nation boundaries. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation and a 500-word essay. Deadline is Sept. 15.

Fee Assistance Grant

Students must attend three credit hours or more each semester and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Textbook Grant

Higher education students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate or doctoral programs may be eligible for textbook funding. Students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA to qualify.

Students enrolled in three to 11 hours may be awarded up to $250 per term.

Students enrolled in 12 or more hours may be awarded up to $500 per term.

Funds are awarded through a Textbook Visa Card (valid for textbooks only). If applying for textbook reimbursement a check will be issued to the student after receipts are submitted.
